Colour variants app: new product colours without a photo shoot
A Swiss retail company sells candles in many colours. Instead of photographing every colour again, AWEO developed an app that recolours existing product photos in the colour of a reference candle. The challenge: only the wax may change. Label, wick, shadow and background must stay exactly the same.

How the app works

Read reference colours
The colour profile of the wax is extracted from each reference image.

Edit only the wax
Editing is strictly limited to the visible wax area.

Recolouring with AI
The AI recolours only this area in the reference colour.

The original is preserved
The result is placed back onto the original photo so that shape, label, wick and background are preserved pixel for pixel.

Automatic selection
The app compares different variants and automatically keeps the cleanest result.
Why there is a plan B
If the AI service is ever unavailable, the app still completes the processing with a computational recolouring method. That way a production run is never left half-finished.
Each reference colour gets its own folder. A progress bar and a running log show what is happening at any time.
